§ 8.12.020. Private sewage disposal system.

  • Every residence, place of business or other building or structure where persons reside, congregate or are employed, and every ground, lot, yard or other place so used as to require facilities for the disposal of human excreta, shall be provided with a private water-flush-type toilet, to be built or rebuilt, constructed and maintained in such manner as to meet the following requirements:

    A.

    At any residence, place of business or other place or building where the customary users during each day do not exceed twenty-five in number, there shall be established or installed a private sewage disposal plant, the disposal plant to consist of a septic tank and a system of underground drains for the disposal of the tank effluent. The tank and drains shall be so constructed and maintained as to meet the minimum requirements of the county health department and the state health department.

    B.

    At any residence, place of business or other building or place where the customary users during each day shall exceed twenty-five in number, there shall be established or installed a private sewage disposal plant, the plans and construction of which, in each separate case, shall be approved by the State Department of Health and the county health department.
